Invisalign
Long Beach, California
In past years, a person with crooked or crowded teeth wore metal braces for one or two years. Braces apply steady pressure to selected teeth, periodically changing which teeth receive the pressure until all teeth are correctly positioned.
Invisalign is another way to do all of the above, without any metal in your mouth, and often in less time. Invisalign uses a series of customized trays, or aligners, all designed according to your individual dental plan.
How Invisalign Works
Dr. DuRoss will first do a thorough dental examination and determine if Invisalign is a good option for you. Once you and he have agreed to go ahead with it, he will take digital photos of your teeth, X-rays, measurements, and using the Invisalign software he will design the best treatment plan for you. He will determine how many aligners should be in your series, and exactly how each one should exert pressure, and on which teeth.
The Invisalign company will make the full series of aligners and in your next visit Dr. DuRoss will give you several pairs. You wear each pair for two weeks. At the end of each two week period, you discard the old pair of aligners and begin wearing the next pair. About every six weeks you will have another dental visit to receive more aligners and for Dr. DuRoss to check on your progress.
Transparent and Removable Aligners
You should take the aligners out when you eat and for brushing and flossing your teeth. For best results, leave them in for at least 22 hours per day. They are not obvious and unless you tell people you have them, or a person looks closely at your teeth, nobody will realize you are having your teeth straightened.
If you have any questions as you go through the Invisalign process you will always be welcome to call our office and Dr. DuRoss always provides clear answers.
Invisalign aligners are a good alternative to metal braces for many people. We also offer what is called “Instant Orthodontics”, but that is not a procedure that actually realigns your teeth. It does quickly give you a bright new smile, however.
Our supportive staff will work with you on financing, as we always try to make sure our patients are comfortable about paying for their dental work. We offer several options as to timeframes and payment terms. Nobody should ever have to forego important dental work because of a financing problem.
